Anthony Parker and Matt Barnes? PDF Print Email

The Cavaliers have already agreed to terms with free agent Anthony Parker. The deal is looking like a 6 million dollar contract over two seasons. This will add depth, defense, 3-point shooting and another veteran who is hungary for a championship. Parker's numbers are very similar to West's last season. He is an athlrtic wing player who can do everything well on the floor. He is a great guy to have out on the 3-point line when LBJ is in the game. Matt Barnes is another great floor-spacer who can knock down the long ball and also has the athleticism to get to the cup. Barnes' numbers are very similar to West's and Parker's as well. So now instead of having West as your " do everything" guy, now you would have three different guys all chipping in. Getting Parker is a solid pickup, but adding Barnes with Parker would really make the Cavaliers bench strong.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have aquired Shaq. Just repeat that sentence in your head about three times. Who would have ever thought that the city of Cleveland could bring in another mega-star next to LeBron James. Although O'Neil is too old for breaking backboards and 40 point rampages, Cleveland will gladly enjoy his 18 and 10 that he put up in Phoenix last season. Shaq has promised himsellf and others that he will be in shape, focused, and hungary. He states that his mission here in Cleveland is " Win a Ring for the King". O'Neil's sense of humor should fit right in as the Cavs were always fun to watch during warm-ups and pregame, as they all played hilarious roles given to them by LBJ. So Cleveland, LeBron has one final year under contract for our Cavaliers. It will be a year that he will play with the 5th highest scoring player to ever play the game of basketball in the NBA. He will have the most dominating and intimitating big man to ever play the game. The Big fella has already won championships for Kobe and Dwayne Wade so why not LeBron?

The Cavaliers dominated the first two games of the series and are heading to Detroit to hopefully wrap this series up on Sunday afternoon following a Friday night victory. The Cavaliers have held the Pistons under 85 points in both contests and have scored at a rapid pace themselves. The Cavs have been efficient on both ends of the floor and look like a team who is destined for greatness. Delonte West and Mo Williams both scored 20+ in game 2 and LeBron did his usual thing stuffing the stat sheet. The King stated that he isn't upset with his second unit that gave up the huge lead in game two, but he definately is not satisfied. Those are the kinds of words you want to here from your leader and soon to be MVP of the NBA. The Cavs need to stay focused and complete this "sweeping" of a Detroit team who already has their sandals on and is ready to hit the beach.

Easter Sunday was filled with drama for everyone who enjoys the sports world. The Masters came down to a three-man playoff and the Cavaliers punished the Boston Celtics at home to cinch home court advantage throughout the NBA playoffs. The Cavaliers have had one goal in mind this whole season, and that has been to win the NBA championship. They took a giant step in the right direction on Sunday with an impressive vicotry over the Champs. The Celtics fell behind early and never got a gasp of breath, due to the suffocating "D" of the Cavaliers. The Wine and Gold went on to beat the Indiana Pacers Monday night at Consaco Fieldhouse. Though Danny Granger came to play, LeBron and the gang were to much for the Pacers down the stretch. The Cavaliers will host the Sixers tonight at Quicken Loans arena. LeBron, Mo, and Z will probably play limited minutes tonight and maybe none at all. Coach Brown has elected to rest his players instead of fighting for the record to tie the 1986 Boston team. That mark is 40-1 and can still be reached if guys like Daniel Gibson, Joe Smith, Delonte West and others can play well.

The Cavs went on to smash the T'wolves and Mavericks, and pulled out a tough victory verse the Detroit Pistons to close out the Month of March. The Cavs started the month of April off very shaky losing in Washington and Orlando on back to back games. This mini losing streak enabled the Lakers to jump up the standing and land a game back of the Cavaliers for the best record in the association. On Sunday the Cavaliers made a statement against the former champs of 2007, San Antonio Spurs. They held the Spurs to 81 points and scored 101 of their own. The King led the way with 38 huge points and Mo Williams and Delonte West added 22 each. Now the Cavaliers will host the Washington Wizards tonight at the @ and will try to show the Wizards who the team is that is currently #1 in the Eastern Conference. The Cavs lead the are tied with the Lakers in the win column and lead L.A. in the loss column by 1 game. The Cavs must keep winning games if they wish to hang on to the best record in the NBA and recieve home court advantage throughout the playoffs and hopefully the Finals.
